Established in 2016, the Saturday Resource Center is a homework help and tutoring program. It was created after the data collected from school reports showed that our weekly after-school participants were in dire need of additional academic support, particularly in math and language arts.

Academic Support
SRC volunteers work on a 1:1 basis with students to complete homework, school assignments, literacy practice, and preparation for standard exams. Each student is paired with a cleared volunteer or tutor to work on areas of challenge.
ENGAGING ACTIVITIES
Tutoring and homework help sessions are interspersed with interactive and group activities so that our volunteers and scholars can bond. Volunteers can help make tutoring and homework time a positive experience for our scholars by supporting them through challenges, being on-hand to answer questions, providing encouragement, and celebrating their successes.
EMOTIONAL CONNECTION
As part of our agency’s wider mission of providing trauma-informed care based on the prevalence of traumatic stress in our community, each session starts and ends with a restorative circle component where both students and volunteers are able to set the tone for the program session.
